Pat Bowie, General Manager of Re-Union, the company which manages Capercaillie Cruisers, explains:
“Since the holiday hire company Capercaillie Cruisers was established, it has gained an excellent reputation for customer service and the quality of the holiday hire boats. The new floating dry dock means that we can now carry out work to the fleet swiftly and on the spot at our headquarters at The Falkirk Wheel without the cost of having to take boats out of service and send them elsewhere for attention.”
“We will also offer the new dry dock as a high quality facility for local and visiting boat owners and I’m delighted to say that we have already received a number of such enquiries. This might in turn lead to knock on benefits for the local area if visiting boat owners stay in the area whilst works are carried out.”
“Above all, we are delighted to have used the services and experience of local company, AL Gordon Engineering, in designing and fabricating the new dock.”
Richard Miller, Waterway Development Manager, British Waterways Scotland, adds:
“The new floating dry dock is a great example of how the canal network can act as a catalyst for regeneration and development and sustain canal-side businesses. It will help ensure the sustainability of Capercaillie Cruisers, an exemplary and local canal-side company, and be a great asset to the boating community on the Forth & Clyde and Union canals – both moored boats and other hire companies – as well as those transiting through the network.”
